I was recently visiting the wonderful blog Whimpulsive (such a neat word – wish I had thought of it!) when I was utterly inspired to hop on the weekly post called “Wordless Wednesday.” SuziQ’s photo that convinced me to play can be found here (wine tasting yes please). But because I like themes, I am going to dedicate my weekly Wednesday post to doors.
Doors you ask? Don’t ask me why, but I have a thing for doors. I’m a walker, and I consistently find myself pointing out intriguing/cool/classy/gorgeous/gothic/hideous doors to my walking companion, who no matter it is, doesn’t seem to share my interest. But come on, people, imagine the lives behind each and every door! So my goal is to (hopefully not creepily) photograph the doors I walk by and enjoy.
Let’s begin here:
How cool are those carvings on either side?! And I only wish my shoddy iPhone camera could capture the veins trailing up the entire brownstone. Gorgeous.
Hmmm is it still “Wordless Wednesday” if I write about it? This weekly post reminds me of the “White Russian Wednesdays” we used to celebrate in college. Not quite the same. Maybe I’ll find a door that reminds me of kahlua at some point.
And a BIG THANKS to BethFishReads (check out her amazing W.W. post here) for pointing out that I need to link to the home of all these fabulous photos: http://www.wordlesswednesday.com/newhome/

Guess what? I’ve had a “thing” for doors ever since I was in high school. I totally understand why you love them. The picture above is wonderful.

LOL I have hundreds of photos of doors — from Europe and from here. Be sure to link your post to the Wordless Wednesday site. I posted my 86th Wordless Wednesday photo today.

Oh please please delete the previous typo-riddled version of this comment !!
LOVE that I inspired you to join the fun. I really enjoy picking my photos for Wordless Wednesday and visiting my friends’ blogs to see theirs. It was BethFishReads who inspired me to start.
The variety of ways folks have of looking at things is amazing to me and a continual source of teaching moments for my own eye.
Doors are fascinating!! I love that you’re going to do a theme with them. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you post every week.
SO glad you joined the fun!!

Please allow me to join your club of door admirers. I don’t own a house yet but hubby and I fantasize about the door we’d have. Ideas about some other house features are sketchy but we’re very clear about the entrance. We ain’t livin’ somewhere with an ugly door.
Looking forward to more photos from you, NW! I like reading your write-up so maybe you can call it Wordy Wednesday?

Love doors!! I already know what mine will look like when I can afford to actually have it… There is a door down town I have been meaning to to photograph, I need to take a walk by there and do it. Love your picture!

I love doors…my iPhone background is a picture of multiple doorways filling up with sand.
However, I really have a thing for pictures of barns, especially when they’re old and falling down.

You guys are making me feel like we should start a public “Lovers of Doors” group somewhere!
PCN: One of the biggest reasons my roommate and I are moving is due to our current ugly, ghetto looking door. Inside our apartment isn’t bad, but entering through a crappy door makes it less enjoyable to go home.
Maira: Thanks for stopped by! I took a look at your WW – you’re a talented photographer I would love to see a photo of the door you love in your town.
Fizzy: Ohhh I like barns too. Ones with stone on the bottom… or big bright red ones. The falling down ones are pretty, but I like imagining a barn dance inside and not having to worry about being smashed by a beam in the middle of swing dancing.

Oh, I love doors, too, although I only seem to take pictures of them in Europe. Love that shot, where is that building?
